Job Description
Job Title: Junior Material Planner/ Buyer
Department: Operations
Responsible to: Supply Chain Manager
Responsible for: Identifying Material shortages and procurement
Job Summary
Hoffman Engineering manufacturers highly engineered niche products for the aerospace, military and medical markets from our modern facility in Southwestern Connecticut. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain entry level Supply Chain Management experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment with growth potential in either specialization. The prospective candidate will be engrained with most aspects of the craft including, but not limited to Material Planning, Inventory Management, Procurement and Transportation. Initial responsibilities will include planning of sub-assemblies, identifying shortages, negotiating and procuring catalog and manufactured materials used in the production of Hoffman Engineering products, as well as being a member of the Inventory Management Team. In addition to displaying highly ethical conduct, this person must have key negotiating skills and ability to source materials from approved vendors. Key Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include the negotiation and purchase of all catalog items and raw materials.
- Calculate annual usage and maintenance of item lead times.
- Process outside service orders
- Handle the requirements for higher value purchases
- Member of the inventory team
- Maintain a neat and organized work area
- Quote, place, track, and when necessary expedite orders through receiving
- Track supplier On-time delivery
- Maintain and monitor hardware KANBAN
- Other Duties- Any reasonable task requested by the company
General Tasks
- Ability to place Purchase orders and quote materials in an electronic manufacturing environment.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education: (or equivalent years of experience):
- College degree: Business degree preferred
Experience:
- Internships or previous exposure to manufacturing or warehouse environments a plus
Knowledge Requirements
- Strong Microsoft skills; Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
- Ability to learn and exploit ERP system
Personal Specification/Essential Qualities
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Energetic self-starter that must be able to work in a team-oriented environment
- Identify good buying opportunities
- Recognizing market fluctuations and capitalizing on advantageous buying situations
